Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has suggested the Indian players to start focusing on their performances for the national team rather than thinking about the Indian Premier League. He said unless the Men in Blue get their priorities right, poor results like losing a series in Bangladesh will continue.

The visitors went down to Bangladesh by 5 runs in the second ODI at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday, December 7. Chasing 272, they managed 266/9 despite half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer (82), Axar Patel (56) and Rohit Sharma (51*).

Rohit Sharma-led team had earlier lost the opening game by 1 wicket. With the latest defeat, India have conceded the three-match series 0-2.

“Indian players should stop thinking about the Indian Premier League and think about the country. Indian cricket is most important and not franchise tournament. There is more money in a T20 league, but the players can earn well from international cricket as well. Unless you start giving importance to international cricket, such results will continue,” he said.

India have lost two successive ODI series in Bangladesh. They went down 1-2 during their previous visit in 2015 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
