Australia star batter Steve Smith shocked the world with his stellar performance in the ongoing BBL match against Adelaide Strikers as he scored his maiden ton.
The 33-year-old, who has made a name for himself in the red ball arena, has not quite replicated the same in white-ball cricket and T20Is in particular.
However, Smith, representing Sydney Sixers, scored his first-ever BBL hundred as he amassed 101(56), which included seven sixes and five fours.
Smith became the first player in Sydney Sixers’ history to score a hundred in the BBL. The former Australia captain brought his maiden domestic hundred in style as he hit a six to score his ton.
Here is the video of Smith scoring and celebrating his hundred.
Overall, Smith has played 63 T20Is and scored 1008 runs at an average of 25. His highest score was 90.
Meanwhile, after this century, now every BBL team have a player with a century in the premier tournament.
The sixers are 2nd on the table with 15 points in 11 games, while the Strikers are fourth with 10 points after 11 games. Smith last played with Delhi Capitals in the IPL but will be skipping the next year’s edition after he was released by the Capitals in 2022.
