Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt believes that Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc could pose a challenge for Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final.
Butt noted that Rohit has struggled against left-arm fast bowlers in the past. He also mentioned that if the Indian openers manage to survive the initial phase and settle in, the Australian bowlers will face difficulties.
Butt further emphasized that India has a stronger batting lineup compared to Australia. He suggested that the playing conditions at The Oval will favor the batsmen due to the pitch’s pace and bounce, allowing them to play their shots freely.
The WTC 2023 final between India and Australia is scheduled to take place at The Oval on Wednesday, June 7.
While Australia will be making their debut appearance in the WTC final, Team India reached the summit clash in the inaugural edition in 2021, but suffered an eight-wicket loss to New Zealand.
