David Warner and Sam Curran
IPL 2023: PBKS vs DC players to watch out for

Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in match number 64 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Wednesday, May 17. While Delhi have been knocked out of the playoffs qualification race, they would still be keen to play for pride. On the other hand, Punjab are still very much in the hunt, but need to keep winning to strengthen their chances of qualification. PBKS are currently eighth with 12 points from 12 matches and can reach 16 by winning the remaining two games. Here are player battles for PBKS vs DC IPL 2023 match 64.

1. Prabhsimran Singh vs Khaleel Ahmed

Prabhsimran Singh played a terrific knock for Punjab against Delhi when the two teams met recently. He notched up his maiden IPL ton, hammering 103 off only 65 balls, a knock which featured 10 fours and six sixes. With the confidence of success, Prabhsimran should be a different batter.

Khaleel Ahmed has done a decent job for DC with the ball. The left-arm seamer has seven wickets in as many matches. Of course, Delhi would have expected better returns from him, but it has just been than kind of a season for DC. Can he provide the early breakthrough, dismissing Prabhsimran?

2. David Warner vs Sam Curran

Delhi captain David Warner played his best knock of the ongoing edition in the match against Punjab in Delhi. He smacked 54 in only 27 balls with the aid of 10 fours and a six. Till the time he was out in the middle, DC had hopes of winning the game.

PBKS’ much-hyped all-rounder Sam Curran has had a poor series with the ball. He has claimed only seven wickets in 12 matches at an average of 58.14 and an economy rate of 10.22. He opened the bowling in the last match and went wicketless. Can Curran find a way to dismiss Warner?

3. Liam Livingstone vs Axar Patel

Liam Livingstone has had a mixed time for PBKS in IPL 2023. In seven matches, he has scored 176 runs at an average of 29.33 and a strike rate of 160, with only one half-century.             Livingstone has looked good in a couple of games, but hasn’t arrived completely yet.

Left-arm spinner Axar Patel has been excellent for DC with both bat and ball. He has stopped the flow of runs and has claimed crucial wickets as well. In 12 matches, he has claimed 10 scalps at an average of 27.90 and a brilliant economy of 6.80. Can he stop a Livingstone surge?

4. Mitchell Marsh vs Rahul Chahar

DC all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been hugely disappointing with the bat for DC, one of the reasons they have struggled so badly. He has only managed 128 runs in nine games at an average of 14.22 and a strike rate of 131.96, with one half-century.

After a long line of poor games, leggie Rahul Chahar finally seems to be coming to the party for PBKS. He was exceptional in the previous match, registering figures of 2/16 from four overs. Chahar trapped Marsh the last time. Can he repeat the feat?

#5 Jitesh Sharma vs Ishant Sharma

Jitesh Sharma has been fantastic for Punjab Kings at the death. He has come in and played some blistering cameos, carrying on from his impressive performances last year. In 12 matches, he has scored 265 runs at a strike rate of 158.68. Punjab will be hoping for a game-changing cameo from him.

At the death, it could be a Sharma vs Sharma battle as Ishant Sharma is likely to bowl at least a couple at the end. The veteran pacer has been phenomenal for Delhi with the ball, making a significant impression in most matches. Can he get rid of the dangerous Jitesh cheaply?
