Rajashree Swain, a woman cricketer of Odisha, was found hanging from a tree in forest. She was missing since January 11. Police recovered her body from Gurudijhatia forest in Athagarh area.

Her coach had filed a missing complaint with Mangalabag police station in Cuttack on Thursday.

Rajashree Swain’s family alleged that she was murdered as her body bore injury marks and her eyes were damaged.

Her scooter was abondoned near the forest area while her phone was switched off.

Police will investigate the matter from all angles. She was a part of training camp organised by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) in Bajrakabati area for an upcoming national-level cricket tournament to be played in Puducherry.

The final team was announced on January 10, but Swain was not selected.

All the other players went to a  field in Tangi area for practice on January 11 but she informed her coach that she was going to Puri to meet her father.
