After IPL, cricket fans would turn their attention to the all-important World Test Championship Final, where India would face Australia from June 7-11 at The Ovals.
Ahead of the crucial red-ball match, several experts have opined their views on the two squads, and former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting is the latest to jump onto the bandwagon.
Ponting stated that Australia would have a slight advantage over India in the finals since the baggy greens are more accustomed to the conditions. However, Ponting also named Cheteshwar Pujara the guy who has troubled the Aussies a lot in the past, and the Pat Cummins-led side should look to get him out early.
“The Australian side would be talking about Cheteshwar Pujara, who has been a thorn in the side and has troubled the baggy greens a lot in the past. They need to get him out.”
Besides Pujara, Ponting also urged Australia to watch out for Virat Kohli, who can be of great danger to the Australian side. “The Australian side will be talking about Virat Kohli. No doubt about it.”
On Sunday, May 28, India, and Australia finalised their squads for the WTC finals. For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad as a backup player.
