MS Dhoni continues to perform three years after his retirement from international cricket. He has led Chennai Super Kings to two IPL titles since hanging his boots from the international arena.
In IPL 2023, he scored his runs at a strike rate of more than 180, the highest in his career. He didn’t bat much due to his knee injury, but his contribution was valuable.
He recently underwent knee surgery and will get fit in three months. The veteran is expected to return for IPL 2024. There is a question mark over his retirement from international cricket. Could he have given at least another year to Team India?
Former Pakistan player Wasim Akram feels Dhoni could have played for India for some more time. Dhoni’s last game for India was the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.
“He could have played for some more time, given his performances, but he took the right call. Dhoni is Dhoni and knows what is best for him. If you are fit but don’t have passion, you can’t perform. He played all the games in IPL 2023 and is likely to make a comeback,” he added.
