Marnus Labuschagne celebrates a century
Marnus Labuschagne breaks another Test record

Australia’s star batter Marnus Labuschagne scripted another Test record to his name in the ongoing 2nd Test match against West Indies as he became the 2nd fastest batsman to reach 3000 Test runs.

The 28-year-old, in the first innings, scored 163 (305), his 3rd consecutive Test century. With the score, Labuschagne completes his 3000 runs in just 30 matches, which is the 2nd fastest in Test cricket’s history. Australian legend and arguably the greatest cricketer of all time, Don Bradman, has a better record than Marnus.

Bradman completed the feat in just 23 matches, seven fewer games than Labuschagne. Meanwhile, Marnus, who recently became the top-ranked batter in the ICC rankings, surpassed the likes of Brian Lara, who achieved the same in 31 matches.

Here is the list of fastest players to reach 3000 Test runs.

  1. Don Bradman – 23
  2. Marnus Labuschagne – 30
  3. Everton Weekes – 31
  4. Brian Lara – 31
  5. Neil Harvey – 31

Labuschagne scored 204 and an unbeaten 104 in the first Test and won the player of the match award for his performance.
