Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has expressed his opinion on KL Rahul’s recent struggles and believes that the Indian batsman should acknowledge that he doesn’t deserve a spot in the national team.
Kaneria suggests that Rahul should use social media to make a bold statement and inform the fans that he will only return to the Indian side once he performs well in domestic cricket.
Kaneria highlighted Rahul’s lackluster performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, emphasizing that he failed to make a significant impact with the bat. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaneria urged Rahul to show courage and accept that his current form doesn’t warrant his selection in the Indian team.
The legendary Pakistan spinner emphasized that Rahul should consider the players who are in excellent form and not be unfair to them. Kaneria believes that Rahul should state that he will allow the selectors to reconsider him once he demonstrates strong performances in domestic cricket.
Kaneria expressed his concerns about Rahul’s form, stating that despite being a fantastic cricketer, Rahul’s performance has significantly declined. He argued that Rahul seems to be lacking mentally and physically, and despite not having accomplished much, he was included in India’s squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
In Kaneria’s view, the Indian selectors should refrain from persisting with Rahul and instead give opportunities to promising newcomers who have excelled recently. He noted Rahul’s struggles in the IPL and mentioned that his hand-eye coordination has been subpar. Kaneria believes that Rahul should be kept away from the Indian team for some time while newer talents are given a chance to shine.
