Venkatesh Prasad vs Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra and Venkatesh Prasad to commentate together in WPL

The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) starts tonight, with Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians locking horns at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The tournament is the biggest women’s competition in the world and will do wonders for the growth of women’s cricket.

Ahead of the inaugural match, the BCCI announced several plans to conduct the tournament at a grand stage. One of them is the opening ceremony, where leading Bollywood actresses Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon will be performing live to entertain the audience.

Fans can tune into Jio Cinema, the official TV and digital presenter of WPL. The Ambani-backed app will stream the tournament for free, and ahead of the first match, they released the list of commentators, which has left the fans in frenzy.

In the list of presenters for the WPL, Jio cinema announced that Aakash Chopra and Venkatesh Prasad will be a part of the panel. For those, who are not aware, recently, Chopra and Prasad got into a Twitter war over KL Rahul.

It is a well-known fact that KL Rahul is struggling with the bat, and before the 3rd match, the internet was divided on whether Rahul should be a part of the playing XI. Prasad, who criticised Rahul’s position in the team, accused the 30-year-old of favouritism, while Chopra reverted to Prasad by backing Rahul, which led to a string of tweets between them debating over Rahul.

Chopra even called Prasad an ‘agenda peddler’, but later invited the former India pacer for a chat, which the latter denied.

For days the two hogged the internet with their tweets, which is why the fans are now excited to see these two come in person. The fans reacted hilariously to the news and posted a few funny reactions on the internet.

Notably, the BCCI announced that women can attend the matches for free in stadiums.
