Venkatesh Iyer was retained by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 8 crore. He has got a hike of 4000 percent in his salary. The left-handed batter was earlier signed for 20 lacs.
He played a key role in KKR’s success during the second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021. Iyer went after the bowlers from the start, and his phenomenal display in the tournament led to his debut for Team India in the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand.
Meanwhile, KKR were defeated by CSK in the finale.
