Sunil Gavaskar believes that Virat Kohli has regained his luck, which had abandoned him during a difficult phase in his cricket career. Kohli has struggled in Test cricket, with an average of less than 30 over the past three years.
However, in 2023, Kohli has made a remarkable comeback, scoring his highest Test score of 186 against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar trophy series. As India prepares for the WTC Final against Australia, Kohli’s performance will be crucial. He has an impressive record against the Australians, with 1979 runs in 24 matches at an average of 48.26, including eight centuries.
In addition to his Test success, Kohli had an outstanding IPL 2023 season, scoring 639 runs for RCB in 14 matches. Sunil Gavaskar, speaking to Star Sports, noted that Kohli’s return to form brought along a change in luck that had eluded him during his rough patch.
Gavaskar mentioned that every player goes through challenging periods but noticed that once Kohli started scoring runs again, luck seemed to favor him.
