Pakistan locked horns with New Zealand for the series decider game on Friday, January 13. The Men in Green, batting first, got off to a disastrous start as they lost a couple of wickets for just 21 runs.
Skipper Babar Azam failed to perform in this match and was dismissed for 4 (13).
With the feat, Babar registered an unwanted record as he became the first player to get stumped in every innings of a series.
Notably, the mode of dismissal for Babar in the first two matches were also stumping by Tom Latham.
Zimbabwe’s Stuart Matsikenyeri is the only other player to get stumped thrice in a series. Stuart was stumped thrice in the five-match series against Sri Lanka in 2004. But unlike Babar, he was not stumped in every innings of the series, which is a unique record set only by Babar.
Babar scored 66 and 79 in the first two ODIs but ended his streak of scoring fifty-plus scores in each ODI innings in 2023 after getting out for four runs in the 3rd ODI.
The Pakistan skipper is under scrutiny for his leadership, and if reports are to be believed, the PCB is planning to sack him from the ODI and Test captaincy.
