Australian keeper-batter Alex Carey defended Steve Smith’s antics after former captain Allan Border slammed him for praising Ravindra Jadeja during the first Test in Nagpur.
Smith had given a thumbs-up sign to the Indian spinner for bowling well, which Border felt was unnecessary.
Speaking ahead of the second Test, Carey stated that Smith has a habit of doing it.
“Border played a lot of games in his career. However, we do different things as we play a lot against these guys. Smith knows them well, and that’s the way he plays. Smith praised players, which helps him focus more on his game,” he said.
Australia have a selection conundrum ahead of the Delhi Test, as Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc are fit to play.
