Mumbai Indians will face Gujarat Titans on May 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium for qualifier 2, where the winner would face Chennai Super Kings for the finals.
All eyes would be on MI’s new bowling sensation Akash Madhwal, who shone against LSG in the eliminator after the 29-year-old picked up a five-wicket haul.
Madhwal registered the figures of 5/5, which are the joint-best in the history of IPL by an Indian. Besides that, Akash broke a plethora of records and has garnered praise from several renowned figures from the fraternity.
Ahead of the game against Gujarat Titans, Akash’s brother Ashish shed light on several unknown details about the right arm quick.
Notably, Akash played tennis ball cricket till 2018 and has an engineering degree. Ashish further revealed that Akash was so good in the tennis ball leagues that he has been banned from tournaments.
“When he was working after his engineering, people would ask him to leave his work and play for their team as they would also pay him. Also, he got banned from Tennis ball leagues. That is how he transitioned to leather ball from tennis league.”
