Delhi Capitals are riding high on confidence in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League after registering back-to-back wins in their first two matches in UAE. With their next match being scheduled against David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad, DC will be aiming to continue the winning momentum in Abu Dhabi.

Ahead of his side’s upcoming encounter against SRH, DC’s right-arm leg-spinner Amit Mishra recently showered praise on head coach Ricky Ponting for his exceptional man-management skills. Calling him a “unique leader”, Mishra stated that the former Australia captain has created a positive impact on the team, considering his own international experience as a great cricketer.

Speaking to India Today in a pre-match conference, the 37-year-old experienced bowler said, “Ricky Ponting himself has played cricket for so many years and he is very well aware of all his players’ mentality which is an important characteristic.

“He is very jolly and talks to everyone with a very positive aura and that’s amazing about his man-management. All these things make him a unique leader,” Mishra added.

Amit Mishra is the second-highest wicket-taking bowler in the history of IPL after Mumbai Indians stalwart Lasith Malinga. But he still never gets much recognition for his performance in the world-famous tournament.

When he was asked whether being an underrated bowler has impacted him in his IPL career, he replied, “I used to think about it previously. But now all my energy and devotion is to my bowling, To be honest, I did not quite get the recognition I deserved but to think of it people know who Amit Mishra is and what he is capable of that’s enough for me.”
