Rohit Sharma was sensational as an opener in the first Test between India and South Africa. The right hand batsman scored twin tons and was rewarded with the Man of the Match trophy. He was told to open the innings after regular KL Rahul was axed following string of low scores in Whites. New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham, who was asked about Rohit Sharma’s display in the first outing as an opener, gave him ordinary ratings.

The 32-year old scored a magnificent ton in the first innings to set-up Team India’s big total. He was not finished with this as he notched up another century to take the first Test out of South Africa’s grasp.

“I think it’s fair to say he’s started ok,” Neesham said when he was asked about Rohit’s start as the opener in the longest format.

Meanwhile, Rohit was satisfied with his effort as he was looking to open in Test cricket. According to him, the management had already informed him about his new role.
