India won a thriller against Australia in the second ODI in Nagpur. Vijay Shankar defended 11 runs in the final over off the game and as a result, the Men in Blue won the game by eight runs to take a lead of 2-0 in the five-match ODI series.

People credited Virat Kohli and Vijay Shankar for India’s win. Kohli had made a brilliant century while Shankar scored 46 runs and took two wickets in the game. Somewhere down the line, people didn’t credit Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah as much even though they took three and two wickets respectively.

Cricket commentator and analyst, Sanjay Manjrekar opined on the same and tweeted, “How easily we give batsmen all the credit. That India is 2-0 up is thanks more to the bowlers than the batsmen.”

“50 overs format is so heavily loaded in favour of batsmen. The imbalance exists even before the game begins. It pains me when bowlers are not given their due. Kuldeep should have grabbed headlines in both games. But it was more Kedar, Dhoni last game & now Virat, Shankar.”
