Ahead of their opening game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Rashid Khan said that even though Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli is one of the best players in the world, it is not excusable to bowl a bad delivery to him.
“IPL is a different league (compared to CPL), the pressure is different. Playing against the big names like Kohli and others is a massive challenge," Rashid said during a pre-match virtual press conference.
“No doubt he (Kohli) is one of the best players in the world and you have to have the best ball for him, there is no excuse to bowl a bad delivery,” the 22-year-old added.
On being asked about his plans to tackle the RCB skipper, Rashid replied: "He'll be back after a long break, let's see how performs".
Rashid is one of the hottest IPL prospects, having bagged a total of 55 wickets since making his debut in the competition back in 2017. But the Afghan spinner said that his focus is to bowl economically.
Rashid has the best bowling economy of 6.55 at an average of 21.69 in the IPL. The batsmen have now started playing out his overs to avoid the risk of losing important wickets.
Rashid further added that he focuses on bowling dot balls to force the opponent to make a mistake.
"I have 4-5 grips. I use them according to the playing conditions. Those five grips help me to bowl differently as each one pitches differently".
