Former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar believes that Eoin Morgan can replace Dinesh Karthik as the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders, who last won the trophy back in 2014.

Recently, Gavaskar opined on Dinesh Karthik, whose reign as the captain might end if the team does not perform well for the first half of the tournament.

The management might give the armband to England’s limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan, who returns to KKR after three years.

“Kolkata Knight Riders is such a team that has a very attractive and aggressive batting order. But the addition of Eoin Morgan to the middle-order has added more stability and experience to it. Thus, he can prove to be very dangerous.” Gavaskar told SportsTak.

“Even this can happen that if in the first four-five games if KKR does not start well, then Eoin Morgan can replace Dinesh Karthik as the captain of the side because we always have had that complex,” he added.

The 70-year-old also spoke about Australian pacer Pat Cummins, who might succumb to the pressure of his price tag, which might affect his performances in IPL 2020.

Notably, Cummins was bought for a whopping INR 15.5 crores by the Knight Riders ahead of the league and he was the most expensive acquisition of the IPL 2020 Auction.

Cummins is currently ICC’s top-ranked Test bowler and played a huge part in Australia’s ODI series win against England, earlier this week.
