Rishabh Pant is one of the upcoming stars of Indian cricket. The Delhi southpaw further enhanced his reputation with his batting exploits in 2019 IPL. The young wicket-keeper batsman finished the 12th edition of the IPL as the highest run-getter for Delhi Capitals. Pant made 488 runs in 16 innings at an average of 37.53 and his strike-rate was 162.66.

“India will miss Pant at the World Cup. I don’t know in whose place, but he will be missed,” Ganguly told reporters at Eden Gardens.

There were suggestions that Pant will replace Kedar Jadhav if he fails to get fit in time. On Jadhav’s fitness, Ganguly said: “He is injured. It’s difficult to say whether he will get fit or not. I hope Kedar gets fit.”

For the first time in IPL, Delhi won a playoff game in the cash-rich league. However, they couldn’t beat Chennai in qualifier 2. But their overall performance was lauded by one and all.

Reflecting on Delhi’ performance, Dada said, “We played exceptionally well but two other teams made the final. The season just got over, we have not thought about it (the way forward).”
