The young Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal is all set to play his maiden IPL season this year in UAE. The 18-year-old player was snapped by the Rajasthan Royals franchise for Rs 2.4 crore at the 2020 IPL auction. Yashasvi has become a household name after his success in the U-19 World Cup earlier this year. From a prodigy in the domestic circuit to making it big in the U-19 international level, Jaiswal has successfully proved his prowess to everyone.
Former India cricketer-turned-commentator, Aakash Chopra has a lot of expectations from the youngster ahead of the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. According to him, Jaiswal will be the player to watch out for Rajasthan Royals.
“If Yashasvi Jaiswal is given an opportunity, then he will make the full use of it. I have great belief in him and also have great expectations from him,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“If RR give him a chance to open the innings, I will be very happy,” the 42-year-old added.
I will put my money on Yashasvi Jaiswal – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra also highlighted the achievements of Uttar Pradesh-born star in List A cricket and in this year’s U-19 World Cup in South Africa.
“Jaiswal has a List A century and he was the highest run-scorer in the under-19 World Cup. If you ask me I will put my money on him.”
Apart from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Chopra picked another young player whom he would be keen to watch. He said Sarfaraz Khan could also set the stage on fire in the UAE, considering his remarkable performances in domestic cricket.
“If I think other than him, then Sarfaraz Khan. He had a very good run last year. So if KXIP use him well, send him a little up the order, I think he can actually set the world alight.”
