Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has rated MS Dhoni above Sourav Ganguly when it comes to white-ball captaincy. While Gambhir made his debut under Ganguly’s leadership, he won the two World Cup titles when Dhoni was leading the side.
Gambhir praised MS Dhoni for leading India to all the ICC titles. Dhoni started captaining India in 2007 with T20 World Cup being his first assignment. Ganguly, on the other hand, took over as captain when the team was dealing with match-fixing scandal.
He took India to new heights in international cricket.
MS Dhoni was a better captain than Sourav Ganguly, says Gautam Gambhir
“MS Dhoni was better than Sourav Ganguly in white-ball cricket, especially if you take the trophies into account. T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy, 50-over World Cup – MS Dhoni everything which was on offer,” Gambhir was quoted as saying in Star Sports show Cricket Connected.
“As a skipper, you can’t have a better record. Dhoni has an upper hand over Ganguly,” he added.
Speaking about their captaincy, Gambhir said that while Sourav led inexperienced side, Dhoni was lucky to have match-winners in his team.
Sourav Ganguly is currently serving as president of the BCCI. Dhoni, on the other hand, has not played cricket since the last edition of the World Cup in England and Wales.
