The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) witnessed a scary moment as South African batsman Faf du Plessis, who is plying his trade the Quetta Gladiators, collided with one of the players while fielding.
The former Proteas skipper has now been shifted to the hospital for further tests. The incident took place during Quetta’s match against the Peshawar Zalmi at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
During the 17th over of Peshawar’s innings, Du Plessis, who is one of the finest fielders in world cricket, made a diving attempt at the boundary line during which his head collided with the leg of Mohammad Hasnain.
The 36-year-old was then attended by Quetta Gladiators’ physio and he walked towards the dugout after receiving some medical attention. Saim Ayub was named as the concussion substitute for Faf du Plessis.
Here is the video:
Batting first, Zalmi managed to reach a total of 197/5 on the back of half centuries from David Miller and Kamran Akmal. In reply, Gladiators could only manage 136/9 and lost the game by 61 runs.
Notably, the Gladiators had to use a concussion substitute in a second successive match after hard-hitting batsman Andre Russell was hit on the helmet by youngster Mohammad Musa.
