MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket last week on Saturday. His teammates were surprised by his call but shared their best moments with the legendary cricketer. KL Rahul has opened up about his relationship with the 39-year old former skipper.
The 28-year old opener admitted that he was left heartbroken after hearing the news of MS Dhoni's retirement. He also praised Dhoni for guiding players like him. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, the right-handed batsman said, "It was shocking to be very honest. I am sure all of us in the team would have liked to give him a grand send-off and wanted him to play his farewell game so we could have had a chance to do something special for him."
"He has been someone who has guided many in the team. Dhoni has allowed us to express ourselves."
Dhoni was my role model – KL Rahul
Having played with him, it was not easy for KL Rahul to describe Dhoni's greatness. The player, who is still under shock, said Mahi was capable of changing lives.
"Words fall short, man. You don't have enough to say about someone as great as Dhoni."
