Bollywood blockbuster ‘Sholay’ never gets old, neither does the comparison of any popular duo in any field in the Indian society to its main protagonist friends Jai and Viru, which had been etched in the Indian memories because of the amazing portrayal by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.
Recently retired from International cricket, middle-order batsman and handy bowler, Suresh Raina described his and former India captain MS Dhoni’s duo as Jai and Viru of Chennai Super Kings.
The 33-year-old Raina, while talking to Harsha Bhogle on the latter’s show at Cricbuzz, said that fans adore the duo and, “its pure love and blessing. It’s like being Jai and Viru from Sholay.”
“They really enjoy our game and love us,” he added.
Dhoni helped in difficult times – Raina
The Uttar Pradesh born Raina, who announced his retirement just after his long time friend and guide Dhoni’s announcement which he made through Instagram on 15th August, said, “Dhoni and I have been together since our early days' camps in 2003-2004.”
Further underscoring the importance of Dhoni in his life, the CSK top scorer said, “He helped me, supported my family during tough times, especially in 2007, when I had an operation. The one and half year made me a tougher man and Dhoni guided me during that period as well.”
Raina would soon be on a journey to UAE where he will team up alongside Dhoni, Watson, and many others to win the IPL 2020 once again.
