Rinku Singh, a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star, has been the talk of the cricket community due to his impressive performances in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). However, after KKR’s recent loss to the Delhi Capitals (DC), former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter to criticize Rinku’s approach.
Despite Rinku’s excellent run of form, Yuvraj was not impressed with his performance during KKR’s batting collapse against DC. Yuvraj particularly called out Rinku and teammate Mandeep Singh for their approach, urging them to play the situation, especially with the hard-hitting Andre Russell waiting in the wings.
“Not happy with @mandeep and @rinkusingh235 approach in this situation,” Yuvraj tweeted. “No matter how confident you are, you must eliminate the possibility of forming a partnership when wickets are falling. The one-day mindset must be maintained until the 15th. Because @Russell12A is coming at the end.”
Rinku, who has been consistent with the bat this season, has scored 180 runs in six games at an average of 45.00 and a strike-rate of 156.52. His stunning effort against the Gujarat Titans saw him smash Yash Dayal for five sixes in a row to seal a memorable last-ball win for his side.
Despite Rinku’s heroics, KKR could only manage to score 127 runs against DC, with Rinku making just six runs in eight balls before being dismissed by Axar Patel. Jason Roy top-scored with 43 runs, while Andre Russell made a late flourish with a 31-ball 38. In the end, DC chased the low total with four balls left.
