Defending champions Gujarat Titans will travel to the famous Eden Gardens for their second fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 29. The last time these two teams met, Rinku Singh hogged the Internet after he smashed five sixes off Yash Dayal’s final over and chased down 31 runs off the 20th over to seal an epic win for KKR.
Since that game, Dayal has not featured in a single game, and when asked about his absence, skipper Hardik Pandya revealed that the seamer lost 7-8 kilos after getting hit for five sixes and fell ill because of an infection and the pressure and trolling he faced after the game.
In the latest event, on the eve of the reverse fixture, Gujarat Titans opener Wriddhiman Saha disagreed with Hardik Pandya’s statement and stated that Yash’s absence and weight loss has nothing to do with the five sixes.
“His illness has nothing to do with the five sixes. He had a fever because of the heat and is all fit mentally. His illness is not game related. He is better now, and a player faces such situations in their career.”
Saha further talked about returning to Kolkata, where he has played a lot of domestic cricket. “Kolkata is my home. I have played so many matches here. But now, the conditions are different, as Motera is my home.”
