Aakash Chopra has expressed his displeasure over the treatment of Rahul Tripathi.

The Men in Blue have turned their attention to the Asia Cup 2022 after winning the series comfortably against Zimbabwe.

While there were hardly any negatives or areas of concern in the series, former cricketer turned Analyst Aakash Chopra has expressed his displeasure over the treatment of Rahul Tripathi.

After missing a debut chance in the Ireland series, the 31-year-old Sunrisers Hyderabad star earned his second India call-up for the Zimbabwe tour. It was believed that the middle-order sensation would have a match or two under his belt by the end of the series.

Surprisingly, Tripathi failed to feature in any of the three matches. Aakash Chopra criticised the management’s approach and said that Tripathi should have played at least in the dead rubber match.

Alongside Tripathi, he had the same concern for Ruturaj Gaikwad. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, he said, “You should give chance to everyone, but nothing like that happened. My question is why did you even select Rahul Tripathi if you did not want him to play at all?”

I understand you want to start with the players who are in your scheme of things, but in a dead rubber match, you should have played Gaikwad and Tripathi, reckoned Chopra.

The decision to leave Tripathi and Gaikwad out for the 3rd and the final ODI baffled the viewers and the experts. Thus, they criticised the management’s decision.
