Team India will take on South Africa in the upcoming five T20Is without regular captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. KL Rahul will lead the team against the visitors, with Rishabh Pant as his deputy.
Both, Virat and Rohit failed in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. While former RCB captain scored his runs at an average of 22.73, MI leader finished his campaign without a fifty.
KL, who was the skipper of Lucknow Super Giants, amassed 616 runs in 15 innings. However, his 79 off 58 deliveries in the side’s eliminator match against Royal Challengers Bangalore drew sharp criticism.
Former India captain Kapil Dev has opened up on the performance of Rohit, Kohli, and Rahul, who are currently India’s top three batters in T20Is.
“They are big players and there is a huge pressure on them, which shouldn’t be the case. When you need them to score runs, they all get out. When it is time to go after the bowlers, they are out. And that adds to pressure. Either you anchor the innings or you go for shots,” said Kapil Dev.
