The match between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals is halfway through. The hosts, batting first, put 177/7 on the board, with David Miller and Shubman Gill being the stars for their side with 40+ scores.
While Gill again proved his mettle at the top of the order, his opening partner Wriddhiman Saha had a dismal outing as he got out for 4(3) in a bizarre dismissal. Saha and Rajasthan Royals’ players trended on social media platforms because of the mode of the dismissal as Trent Boult, who picked up another wicket in the first over, took a never seen before catch of his own bowling in the IPL.
During the 3rd ball of the first over, Saha mistimed a shot that went straight up in the air. Meanwhile, skipper and keeper Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel all ran to take the catch, which resulted in all three players colliding with each other. Eventually, the ball popped out of Sanju’s hand and went straight to Trent Boult, who stood near the players who were a part of the collision.
IPL’s official Twitter handle posted the clip of the incident. Here is the video.
In the replay, Sanju can be seen calling for the catch at top of his lungs but due to the loud crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Hetymer and Jurel did not hear Samson’s call.
