Suryakumar Yadav continued his stunning form with the bat in the shortest format of the game as he scored a well-compiled 111 in 51 balls to register the second T20I ton of his career.
He is the second Indian player to hit two centuries in T20I cricket in the same calendar year.
His teammate Rishabh Pant was pleased with Surya’s effort and gatecrashed his mid-innings interview to give him a warm embrace. ‘That was an unbelievable innings,’ Pant was heard saying.
On the other hand, Pant failed again as he scored just 6 runs in 13 balls and looked out of touch. The Men in Blue finished with a total of 191 on the board.
“A hundred is always special in a T20 format. Hardik was telling me to bat till the 18th or 19th over, and get to a score of 185 or so,” he said.
The Kiwis were dismissed for 126 and lost the game by 65 runs.
