While the IPL focuses on cricket, the league is known for its star-studded franchises, and this year, it got a boost from an unexpected source – Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri.
Chhetri, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in Indian history, surprised the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad by joining them for one of their training sessions. Chhetri’s presence in the camp created a buzz among the players and fans, and the footballer did not disappoint.
The session’s highlight was when Chhetri took a stunning diving catch that stunned everyone. A video of the catch quickly went viral, with fans hailing Chhetri’s athleticism and agility. Chhetri’s presence in the RCB camp allowed him to catch up with his good friend and Indian cricketing legend Virat Kohli.
In a video uploaded by RCB on their YouTube channel, Chhetri spoke about his relationship with Kohli, revealing a side of the cricketer that many people may not know about.
Talking about his relationship with Kohli and the conversations both players share, Chettri said, “It is always about sports, or it is a joke. I don’t know if many people know this, but he is hilarious.
Unfortunately, that side of his is not known to people, and I’m not sure if he will like me saying this, but he is hilarious.”
RCB hopes that Chhetri’s presence in the camp will boost them as they kick off their IPL campaign against the Mumbai Indians. The Bangalore-based franchise has consistently performed in the tournament, making it to the playoffs in the last three editions.
