IPL 2023 finals tickets
Police resorted to lathi-charge to stop unruly behaviour by fans

The Narendra Modi Stadium, which is the largest cricket ground in the world, will host the IPL 16 final on May 28. Chennai Super Kings have already qualified for the finals, and the fans cannot keep their calm to witness MS Dhoni play in front of over a lakh people in potentially his final IPL game.

Paytm, which is the official ticket sponsor for games in Gujarat, have opened the sale of tickets for the final. In the latest development, things went wrong ahead of the mega-final, as fans, who waited in long queues for physical tickets, were denied the tickets by the authorities and were asked to collect tickets a day before the final.

The fans, out of frustration, tried breaking the barricade and helpless police had to do a mild-lathi charge. Here is the video.

The fans took to Twitter to bash Paytm and the ticket authorities. A fan stated, “We got a message from Paytm to collect physical tickets on May 25. There was a huge queue, and when we reached the counter, we were informed that there is a glitch, and they asked us to come again on the 27th.”

A section of fans tried breaking the barricade that led to the entry to the Stadium, but the police resorted to a lathi charge to stop the unruly behaviour.
