Glenn Maxwell and other players celebrated wildly after beating India in Sunday’s ICC World Cup 2023 final (November 19).
Chasing 241, Maxwell hit the winning runs as centurion Travis Head was dismissed with just two runs needed. The right-handed batter ensured the Aussies beat India by six wickets to lift the World Cup trophy for the sixth time.
Maxwell got rid of dangerous Rohit Sharma earlier in the day, finishing with 1/35 in six overs.
The big show scored 400 runs in nine matches, with the best score of an unbeaten 201 against Afghanistan at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He also took 6 wickets.
Maxwell had also hit the winning runs when Australia lifted the ICC T20 World Cup for the first time in 2021.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a video on Instagram where Maxwell and other players were seen dancing and singing.
