India and Pakistan are two arch-rivals in international cricket. The matches between the two nations are intense. There have been numerous memorable encounters with the ICC T20 World Cup match being the lastest one.
The players from both sides have often sledged each other. Ex-Pakistan player Basit Ali has made a big claim that the team management told the players to sledge Sachin Tendulkar, Ajay Jadeja, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Vinod Kambli but not Mohammad Azharuddin.
Basit claimed that there was a lot of respect for Azhar in the Pakistan dressing room.
“Before the match, I was told to go hard at Sachin Tendulkar, Ajay Jadeja, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Vinod Kambli. However, the moment Azhar Bhai arrived at the crease, we never sledged him. I can’t describe the amount of respect we had for him,” said Basit Ali on his YouTube channel.
“Be it Wasim Akram, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saleem Malik, Rashid Latif and Waqar Younis, they wouldn’t sledge Azhar Bhai. I don’t remember any Pakistan player ever insulted him,” he added.
