Former India openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag will captain teams in the upcoming edition of the Legends League Cricket, starting September 16 in Kolkata. While Gambhir will lead GMR Sportsline-owned India Capitals, Virender Sehwag is the skipper of Adani-owned Gujarat Giants in the T20 tournament.
The inaugural edition of the Legends League Cricket was played in January 2022 in Al Amerat. The second season will be played across six cities in India.
Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack and Jodhpur are the venues for the group matches, while the place for play-offs and finals are yet to be decided.
Sourav Ganguly will lead the India Maharajas in a special match against Eoin Morgan-led World Legends on September 15.
Virender Sehwag will play an aggressive brand of cricket. “I am excited to get back to cricket again. I will continue playing an aggressive cricket brand,” said Sehwag.
