Virat Kohli has reacted to the horrific train accident in Odisha that claimed more than 250 lives. More than 900 people are reportedly injured and are receiving treatment at the various hospitals in the state.
The crash involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train.
Kohli, who is preparing for the ICC World Test Chanpuosn Final against Australia, took to social media to pay condolences to the families of the departed soles and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
“Saddened to hear about the tragic train accident in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” he wrote.
Former India player Gautam Gambhir also expressed his sadness.
“Devastated by the loss of lives in Odisha. May god give strength to the families of the victims. Wishing a speedy recovery to those injured. The nation stands with you,” he wrote.
The incident occurred when a passenger train, the Coromandel Shalimar Express, got derailed, hitting a goods train, and the Yesvantpur-Howrah Superfast crashed into the derailed coaches.
