Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has praised Virat Kohli after he hit his 46th ODI hundred in the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday (January 15). The veteran compared Virat’s fitness to football icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Virat accumulated an unbeaten 166 off 110 at a strike rate of 150+, including 13 fours and 8 sixes. He ran 66 runs.
“Virat Kohli is no less than Cristiano Ronaldo. He is among the top fitness freaks sportsmen in the world,” he said.
Kohli was also adjudged Player of the Match and Player of the Series following his two hundreds against the Lankans. He amassed 113 off 87 in the first ODI in Guwahati. The 34-year-old has now scored three centuries in the last four ODIs. Kohli needs 4 tons to go past Sachin Tendulkar (49) for the most ODI hundred.
Butt said Kohli is back to his best, as he often scores big in the 50-over format. He credited Kohli for taking his time before going for big shots.
