Ravi Shastri said Virat Kohli has given a befitting reply to critics after his MCG masterclass in the ICC T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli’s 71st international hundred came after a gap of 1020 days. The former India captain hit his maiden T20I hundred and did it in style against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 match.

With it, Kohli joined Ricky Ponting in the list of most centuries in international cricket, and he is now behind great Sachin Tendulkar. His well-wisher Shoaib Akhtar was very happy after Kohli completed his ton.

The former pacer expressed his feelings about Kohli’s unbeaten 122 off 61 balls. “During his first 50 runs, he was not the real Virat Kohli. But I saw the real Virat when he scored the last 50 of his innings. When he scored his century, it felt like he was hitting at will and getting his form back,” said Akhtar.

“He is finally back. @imVkohli is one of the greats. Long awaited 71st century,” he added.

Akhtar has been backing Virat for a long time. He wants Virat to score another 29 to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries.

“The next 29 centuries matter to me because I feel he is the greatest batter of all time. Those 29 centuries that are left for him will be difficult. But he won’t stop,” explained Shoaib.

“Virat, break your bones and get drained but complete the task.”
