Vijay Shankar has opened up on the online trolling he has faced since his below-par performance in England’s 2019 ODI World Cup campaign.
He admitted that he found it challenging to deal with and ignore the noises on social media.
MSK Prasad, the former head of the selection committee, had chosen Shankar over Ambati Rayudu, citing the former as a 3D player.
Speaking to Sportstar, Shankar conceded that mocking on social media has impacted him. However, he has now learned to deal with all the negative things.
“It was not easy initially. It is very easy to say that you should ignore outside noises, but is not possible. With social media around, the stuff written said go into your mind. However, I have become stronger. MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and all the top players have faced rowdy fans,” he said.
“People appreciate them when they perform well but come down hard in tough times. People who go through it know how tough it is,” he added.
