Former Pakistan bowler Shoaib Akhtar has encouraged Virat Kohli to forget about his captaincy record and focus on his batting. The former India captain is facing massive flak for his poor returns in England.

Virat was removed from the leadership role in ODIs, while he left the armband in T20Is and Test cricket. Rohit Sharma is the current all-format skipper.

“He has to move on from his captaincy days where he was the eye of the media. Virat should focus on his batting. He can score 30-40 more hundreds.”

Virat batting has taken a hit across formats, and despite working hard in the nets, he hasn’t been able to break the shackles.

“He shouldn’t let himself down in this situation. He is a strong person and needs to be composed and focused. He should understand that runs will not come from the first ball as they are made by staying at the crease.”
