Salman Butt feels young India fast bowler Umran Malik is miles away from breaking Shoaib Akhtar’s record of the fastest delivery. Akhtar scripted history when he clocked 161.3 kmph against England in Cape Town in the 2023 World Cup.
Umran has been bowling fast for the Men in Blue in T20Is. He came to the limelight after the pacer took 22 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022.
Malik has bowled the fastest ball of 157 kmph against the Delhi Capitals (DC). The Jammu Express clocked 155 kmph during the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Butt reckoned that Umran and Pakistan’s Haris Rauf would not be able to break the record.
“They both are far away from Shoaib’s record as of now. But records are meant to be broken. So who knows? But Shoaib played all the formats and bowled long spells,” he said.
