Umran Malik continues to hogg the limelight despite not getting a chance in the five-match T20I series against South Africa.

Umran Malik took 22 wickets in 14 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, but it is his ability to bowl consistently over 150 kmph that has caught the attention of the world.

Apart from his pace, Malik’s bowling action has been compared to Waqar Younis. Former Australia pacer Brett Lee said Umran reminds him of a legendary Pakistan fast bowler.

The 22-year-old said that he never followed Waqar. “I have not followed Waqar Younis. I have a natural action. My idols include (Jasprit) Bumrah, (Mohammed) Shami, and Bhuvneshwar (Kumar) bhai. I used to follow them while learning about the fast bowling,” said Malik.

Umran will represent India in the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa. “I want to do my best for India. I have an opportunity in the series against South Africa. I want to win all the matches for India,” he added.
