Suryakumar Yadav had a miserable ODI series against Australia as he was dismissed for three consecutive golden ducks. His failure with the bat played a big role in India’s series defeat.
Mitchell Starc trapped him in front of the stumps in the first two ODIs. In the series decider, he came out to bat at the No.7 slot and was clean bowled by Ashton Agar.
Former Pakistan player Danish Kaneria blamed Rohit Sharma for Suryakumar’s poor run. Danish said that the team management should have shown the same confidence in him that they did with star batter Virat Kohli.
“The team management doesn’t show confidence in Suryakumar Yadav. His batting slot was changed without any logic. Even Virat Kohli took time to return to form, but his batting position didn’t change. So why with SKY? The team management deserves all the blame,” he said.
“It was Rohit Sharma’s mistake as well. They demotivated him when his confidence was low. Rohit should have backed him,” he added.
Suryakumar Yadav is the No.1 batter in the ICC T20I Rankings. However, he has just 433 runs to his name in 23 ODI matches.
