Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Faf du Plessis
SRH vs RCB: Players battles to watch out for

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match number 65 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, May 18. While SRH have been knocked out of the playoffs race, RCB are very much in contention. Faf du Plessis and co. are fifth on the points table, with 12 points from 12 games. A win on Thursday will keep them alive in the playoffs race. As for SRH, they would like to move up from the last position. In their previous game, RCB hammered Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 112 runs, while SRH went down to Gujarat Titans (GT) by 34 runs. Here are player battles for SRH vs RCB IPL 2023 match.

#1 Abhishek Sharma vs Mohammed Siraj

Abhishek Sharma has had a mixed IPL 2023 campaign. He has looked really good in a couple of matches and has been out of sorts in a few of the others. 215 runs in 10 matches at an average of 21.50 and a strike rate of 150.35 presents a fair picture. He will be keen to sign off from the tournament on a high.

After a great performance in the first half of IPL 2023, RCB pacer Mohammed Siraj has gone off the boil a bit. He has claimed only one wicket in his last three matches. But Siraj regained some confidence after dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck in the last game. He would want to build on it.

#2 Faf du Plessis vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis has been absolutely exceptional for the franchise in IPL 2023. In 12 games, he has amassed 631 runs at an average of 57.36 and a strike rate of 154.28, with as many as seven half-centuries. In his last five knocks, he has two 40s and two half-centuries.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was sensational for SRH against GT in a losing cause, claiming 5/30. He again got the early wicket for his team, dismissing Wriddhiman Saha for a duck with a probing delivery. In almost every game, Bhuvneshwar has dismissed the opposition opener. Can he take out Du Plessis?

#3 Rahul Tripathi vs Karn Sharma

Rahul Tripathi has had a pretty forgettable campaign for SRH. He has been backed by the franchise from the start of the tournament, but has only managed 258 runs in 12 games at an average of 23.45 and a strike rate of 128.36, with one fifty. Can he lift his game?

Wanindu Hasaranga was surprisingly left out of the team for the last game, while Karn Sharma was part of the match. The 35-year-old leggie impressed with 2/19, running through the tail. But he has made an impact against proper batters. He will look to unsettle Rahul Tripathi.

#4 Glenn Maxwell vs Mayank Markande

After three low scores, RCB star Glenn Maxwell has rediscovered his rhythm in the last couple of matches. He smacked 68 against Mumbai Indians and 54 against Rajasthan Royals. Maxwell will look to continue his great form with the bat against SRH.

Mayank Markande has done a good job for Hyderabad with the ball in hand. In 10 matches, the leggie has picked up 12 wickets at an average of 25 and an economy rate of 7.89. However, he has gone off the boil a bit recently, with only two wickets in four games. Can he raise his game against Maxwell?

#5 Heinrich Klaasen vs Harshal Patel

Heinrich Klaasen has been exceptional for SRH, in many ways the lone shining light with the bat. In 10 matches, he has smashed 326 runs at an average of 46.57 and a strike rate of 172.49, with two half-centuries. In the last game, he top-scored for the team with 64.

Harshal Patel has had a disappointing IPL campaign so far. He has not been able to keep things quiet at the death. In 11 games, he has claimed 12 wickets, but at an economy rate of nearly 10. Harshal will want to make an impact against Klaasen, but it will be a challenge.
