South Africa have never won an ICC World Cup despite being home to star players. They have failed in the knockout matches on numerous occasions.
However, the African continent team has shown significant improvement in the shortest format of the game in the last couple of months.
With the next edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 due in Australia, AB de Villiers said his country has a change to end their World Cup drought.
According to him, the Proteas are one of the top contenders for the coveted trophy.
“South Africa have a strong team. They have a good chance of winning the tournament in Australia. The challenge is to generate winning momentum,” he said.
