Venkatesh Prasad and Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir slammed Prasad over KL Rahul criticism

The 16th edition of the IPL is less than two weeks away, and the players are sweating it hard at the training base, except those on national duty. Eyes would be on KL Rahul, who has been exceptional for his IPL side but had a forgettable last year in international colours.

The 30-year-old. recently hogged the headlines after former India cricketers Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra got into a verbal war over KL’s place in the Indian side.

Ahead of the upcoming season, the media got hold of Gautam Gambhir, the global mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, where the reporter asked him whether Rahul would be under pressure after his recent performances at the national level.

Reacting to the criticism, Gambhir defended his team’s skipper and even took a dig at Prasad, who spoke in support of Rahul’s ouster from the team.

“What kind of pressure? He would not be under any stress. He smashed 616 runs for Lucknow last year and has 4-5 centuries in the tournament. For India, only 15 players get to play, while in the IPL, 150 players get featured.”

Gambhir then talked about Venkatesh and said that these former players need masala to remain active among the media.

“Sometimes the ex-cricketers need some masala to remain active. So, what they do is criticise people.”
