India whitewashed Zimbabwe to win the series 3-0. Shubman Gill became the talk of the town with his maiden ODI century and won the player of the series award.
Apart from his on-field heroics, he won hearts for his off-the-pitch gesture towards Zimbabwe cricketer Brad Evans.
Gill gifted Evans his Indian jersey since the 25-year-old is new to international cricket. He has played just 5 ODIs and 4 T20Is.
Famous journalist Vimal Kumar posed a few questions to Evans about Gill during the press meet, and the player had special words for the Indian.
Vimal (Journalist): Was Shubman Gill the most significant factor in deciding the series?
Brad Evans: Yes, for sure. I am a big fan of his batting and even got a signed jersey from him.
He further praised Gill by calling him an incredible talent with brilliant technique.
“I have seen him play in the IPL and Australia. I am a big fan of Gill. He is wonderful. From seeing him on TV to playing against him is awesome.”
Evans called Gill one of the most technically sound players and said, “Even for a single, he hits the ball exactly where he wants. That is amazing and comes after a lot of practice.”
