Shubman Gill

Former India player and the 2007 World Cup winner Irfan Pathan has lauded Shubman Gill for his sensational hundred in the third T20I against New Zealand. Men in Blue won the game by 168 runs to clinch the series by a margin of 2-1.

He feels Gill is the next great batter after Virat for India. Irfan said Shubman is the future leader as well.

“I don’t have any doubt in my mind that Shubman Gill is the next Virat Kohli and future captain as well. He has been sensational in white-ball cricket and will prove himself in the Test format as well,” he said on Star Sports.

The 23-year-old batter amassed 126 not out off 63 balls, with the help of 12 fours and 7 sixes at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Hardik Pandya-led team smoked 234/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing 235 to win, the Kiwis were bowled out for 66 runs, with Hardik taking 4 wickets. Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Mavi and Umram Malik dismissed two batters each.
